Slovenska Industria Jekla d.d. (Slovenian Steel Group) comprises 6 metallurgical enterprises. The two principal enterprises of the group (Acroni d.o.o. and Metal Ravne d.o.o.) produce flat and long stainless, special and carbon steel products. The other enterprises manufacture industrial knives, electrodes, steel nails and rods. Slovenska Industria Jekla d.d. employs over 2500 people. In 2006 the total sales of the group was more than 600 million euros and total production volume was almost 500,000 tonnes of steel products. 30% of products were sold in the domestic market and the rest was exported mostly to Western Europe and the USA.
Acroni d.o.o. is the largest steel company in Slovenia. Its EAF is able to melt 85 tonnes of liquid steel per hour using ferrous and Ni containing scrap as a principle source of raw material. This plant manufactures high value added products making hot rolled and cold rolled flat stainless, special, electrical and carbon steel products. The major share of its production is heavy stainless and construction steel plates.
Metal Ravne d.o.o. manufactures long steel products including high speed steel, special steel, construction steel and tool steel products. Its UHP 40 EAF furnace is using principally ferrous and Ni containing scrap.
