Key results of the FY 2016 compared to FY 2015:
In 2016 IMH increased total coking coal mining by 16.8% to 2.21 mt. compared to 1.89 mt. a year before. Increase was achieved due to drilling-and-blasting intensification at Uchastok Koksovy open pit and Butovskaya mine through the use of more efficient equipment and modern technologies.
Coal concentrate production expanded by 19.8% to 2.64 mt. due to Berezovskaya washing plant modernization and IMH Coal Division mining volume ramp-up.
Production of 6% moisture content coke at Koks increased 3.6% to 2.82 mt. because of export sales boost and favorable market conditions.
Iron ore mining and iron ore concentrate production remained at stable levels. Output volumes improved by 1.2% and 1% to 5.02 mt. and 2.25 mt. accordingly
Pig iron production at Tulachermet increased by 7.4% to 2.21 mt. in 2016, compared to 2.06 mt. for 2015. This accounts for a record-high volume of pig iron produced by two blast furnaces (BF-2 and BF-3) jointly, since BF-1 overhaul in September 2008. Desulphurization unit commissioning in 2016 had a positive effect on the numbers as well.
Key results of 4Q 2016 compared to 3Q 2016:
Production of coking coal by IMH Coal division increased 44.6% to 758 mt. in 4Q 2016 compared to 524 mt. in 3Q 2016. The growth is mainly accounted for new mining equipment use at Butovskaya mine and increased production at the Uchastok Koksovy open pit.
Coking coal concentrate output at Berezovskaya washing plant decreased by 3.6% and totaled to 682 mt. due to production features during winter season.
Production of 6% moisture content coke at Koks declined 4% to 704 mt. from 733 mt. in 3Q 2016, that is still 1.4% higher than average production in 2016 1st and 2nd quarter.
Iron ore mining by Kombinat KMAruda boosted by 11% to 1.32 mt. Iron ore concentrate production increased by 9.9% to 590 mt.
Pig iron output at Tulachermet declined 4.6% and totaled to 528 mt in 4Q 2016 compared to 554 mt in the previous quarter mainly because of BF-2 and BF-3 decreased operation intensity due to current market conditions.
