IMH participated in Earth Hour
Industrial Metallurgical Holding (IMH), one of the world’s leading suppliers of merchant pig iron and the biggest merchant coke producer in Russia, took part in the international Earth Hour action.
From 20:30 to 21:30 local time, the IMH enterprises turned off the backlight of administrative and household facilities, partially lighting of the industrial site and production facilities, where security conditions allowed, as well as equipment not involved in critical technological processes. The total energy savings exceeded 3.5 thousand kWh (about 17 thousand rubles).
IMH strives to comply with best environmental practices. The company invests into the most advanced equipment and systems to reduce or eliminate emissions completely. Thus, over the period 2000-2018, the company’s two largest enterprises (Tulachermet and Koks) halved their emissions into the atmosphere.
A lot of attention is paid to the effective organization of environmental monitoring. The management systems of Tulachermet, Koks, Kombinat KMAruda, Koksovy open pit and Berezovskaya washing plant are certified according to ISO 14001 standard. In 2020, IMH’s partner Tula-Steel metallurgical plant also acquired such a certificate.
Currently, IMH plans to integrate the principles of sustainable development into its business strategy. One of the leading international audit firms will be engaged as an external consultant for implementation of best sustainable development practices. Together with these consultants, IMH management plans to form a set of strategic initiatives aimed at responsible consumption and production, as well as ensuring long-term efficiency growth at all stages of value creation and in all business processes of the company.
